Commitment
Baines Masonry is committed to the safe and transportation of our products and compliance with the National Heavy Vehicle Law, Regulations and the Chain of Responsibility.
Objectives
Our transport safety system objectives are to:
- foster commercial arrangements with other responsible organisations that are committed to compliance,
- provide employees with easy access to compliance information, instruction, training and supervision,
- inspect drivers transporting our products to ensure they:
- are fit to drive (eg not affected by drugs, alcohol or fatigue), and
- hold the required documentation and qualifications (log books, licenses etc)
- inspect vehicles transporting our products to ensure:
- vehicle serviceability (service records and prestart),
- weight and dimension limits are not exceeded,
- load is distributed correctly, and
- load is secured correctly (restraint equipment is appropriate to the load and in serviceable condition).
- ensure driver schedules do not require drivers to exceed driving hours regulations or speed limits,
- comply with relevant fatigue management work and rest laws,
- provide drivers with information on changes in circumstances (such as delays) to allow them to manage measures,
- reporting and resolving any vehicle defects immediately,
- auditing the transport safety system, and
- conduct corrective and preventative action to facilitate continual improvement.
